Intro animation

This ist the intro animation. It will lead in the information film with questions the most students have in context to a semester abroad.

The voices in that intro are just a placeholder. They will be replaced in December by the voices of the real actors.

General information

About us and our project:

We are three students from the RheinMain University of Applied Science in Wiesbaden, Germany. We are studying Media Management in the 5th semester.
In April we started our project “Information film Ramkhamhaeng University Bangkok” which contains the planning and production of a film about the University Bangkok or rather it’s Institute of International Studies (IIS).

The project has been offered and organized by Prof. Claudia Aymar and Prof. Wolfgang Schiffler.

The university:

The Ramkhamhaeng University (RU) in Bangkok is with about 430,000 students one of the largest universities in the world. There are regular courses of studies in Thai and there is a special Institute of International Studies (IIS) where students from all over the world can study a semester abroad. Lectures from the fields English Language, Business Administration and Mass Communication Technology are offered. The professors come mainly from Europe, USA and Canada and raise the quality of the courses, which are taught entirely in English.

Our work:

We started the organization and preparation for our film last semester, in April 2009.
Three main aspects had to be worked out:
- the conception of the content
- the organization of our journey and the shoot
- the financing of the whole project

We started with analysing image films of other universities we found in the internet, thinking of possible content and forms of our film and went on by formulating about 30 treatments. After we picked our five favourites and evaluated them, we chose our final concept in collaboration with our professors and our contact persons in Thailand.
We drew a storyboard and searched for photos to get to know the places where we want to shoot our scenes later. A screenplay was written and six main characters were created.

Nearly at the same time we started our research about locations, planned the future casting and talked about the time flow and schedule of responsibilities.
On the other hand we engaged a cameraman, booked the flights and a hotel.
We had to think about technical equipement and Thai specifics concerning shoots and duty.

And at last we had to manage the financing of our project. We acquired sponsors and applied for aid money from several film institutes and our university.
With the help of our sponsors (Backhaus Schröer, Wiesbadener Volksbank and Repro Richter, as well as the RheinMain University of Applied Science) we will be able to execute the shoot of the film this year in December.
