Final film

The day before yesterday we integrated the music in our film.
We had a cooperation with a componist who composed several songs for us.
You can find his work here.
Eventually we used six different songs, one for each student sequence.

Yesterday Prof. Aymar and Prof. Schiffler watched the final film.
After a few sound adaptations we exported the film what took about two hours.

Now the film will be sent to the Ramkhamhaeng University, Bankok.
They will arrange the final passing by the Thai Film Office.

After this whole process you will find the film at the Foreigndesk website
of the RheinMain University of Applied Science, Media Management.
In addition the film will be published on Youtube and MyVideo.
We will tell you the links when it's online!

Post production No. 4

We already received feedback from Prof. Schiffler and Steffen Böttrich. So we finally adapted brightness, contrast and chroma and made final cut corrections. Especially the sound made a lot of work. We used Adobe Soundbooth and tried a lot of effects to adapt the off-voices. We also contacted Kurt Jarzombek to receive some professional tips. But finally we couldn't change much because the voices which we recorded in the studio in Bangkok are not adaptable to the ones which we recorded during the shoot.

The final presentation of the project will take place in two weeks, so we need to prepare the powerpoint and also the documentation should be done soon. As you can see there is still a lot of work left ;)

Post production No. 3

Every Media Management student knows that you should ALWAYS have a backup of the files you are working with. Since yesterday we know exactly why...

... while exporting a clip the computer stopped working and couldn't find the hard disk anymore. We tried to redo it and had to get to know that the disk was broken. Fortunately we had more than this one so that Laura and Stefanie could go on cutting while Tim tried to fix the problem.

In the end Tim succeeded and was able to refloat the hard disk but we were really shocked by this accident.

Nevertheless the cutting works out so the film is already taking shape and we are sure to be able to finish it in time.

Post production No. 2

The student part is almost done. So it's half time and we have cut three minutes of the final information film :)

Today we made some fine-tuning.
In Adobe After Effects CS4 we designed fibre belts for the six students. We also had to edit a scene we really liked. The problem was that a little sheet was hanging in front of the camera - so we had to retouch this part in Adobe After Effects.

We recorded the sound of a camera to realize some photo shots in one of the student parts.

Post production No. 1

We finished the whole viewing of the footage last friday. We used the software P2 Viewer, because in this program it is not necessary to transfer the footage. So we gained time. Even though it took three days to view and evaluate all clips - all in all 10,5 h. We also had to input the data like date, camera identification, card number and description and evaluation of the clip to make sure to recover everything. In the next step we trasfered the selected clips to Adobe Premiere CS4 to cut them. We already finished the cut and also the off-voice of the first two student parts. Now we will parallelize the work. Tim will edit everything in Adobe After Effects to realize our film concept of the grid. Stefanie and Laura will cut the remaining video and audio files to make sure that Tim will always have enough work ;)

Yesterday we took our flight back home.

Everything went well with the equipment, our baggage und the A.T.A. Carnet.

We collected all necessary stamps from the duty offices in Bangkok and Frankfurt and were allowed to reimport all equipment.

Now back in snowy Germany we will start to look through all of our 10,5 hours of film material (nearly 500GB) and start the postproduction after the holidays.

We wish you a merry Christmas and hope that you keep following us to accompany the comming steps from the raw material up to the finished film.

News

Our stay in Thailand is nearly over. Tomorrow we will fly back to Germany. We will start the postproducation after the holidays in January.

The time in Thailand passed really fast and it's difficult to imagine being in the winterly Germany tomorrow evening. It's also hard to remember that it's Christmas time. The Christmas songs in the malls and the kitschy decoration try to impart the winter feeling but it really doesn't match with the climat in Thailand.
